Dr. Roukema is passionate about dentistry and is dedicated to providing high-quality and comfortable dental care to his patients. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minor study in biology from the University of Northern Colorado, he completed his dental training at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon graduation, he moved to Albuquerque to receive an Advanced Education in General Dentistry certificate from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. In 2019, Dr. Roukema completed postdoctoral training through the Dawson Academy focusing on complex dental problems involving esthetics, occlusal problems, TMJ issues, and advanced restorative care.
Dr. Roukema strongly believes in developing trusting relationships with his patients, focusing on their overall oral health, and the value of prevention and regular maintenance. Recognizing that individual situations require different options, Dr. Roukema works with his patients to develop comprehensive treatment goals and can provide a full range of services in the office from cleanings and simple fillings to complex reconstructive cases, dental implants, crowns, bridges, extractions, and Invisalign.
Dr. Roukema is a member of the American Dental Association, the Colorado Dental Association, and the American Academy of General Dentistry. As a dedicated life-long learner, he will always be a student of dentistry as he attends continuing education classes to stay current on the latest techniques in the dental field.
Having grown up in Pueblo, Colorado has always held a special place in Dr. Roukema’s heart. After living and practicing dentistry in New Mexico for fourteen years, Dr. Roukema, his wife Christy, and their four children (Hannah, Max, Sam and Ben) are grateful to be back in Colorado and are happy to have Pagosa Springs as their forever home. In Peter’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his family in the great outdoors, mountain biking, skiing, fitting in a quick CrossFit WOD, or training for Ironman triathlons.
